WATCH: 'That was nuts' - Mayo footballers after joining Saw Doctors on Electric Picnic stage

Members of the All-Ireland-winning Mayo senior football panel provided the stand-out moment at Electric Picnic as they appeared on stage with the Saw Doctors
There was a spinetingling moment for Mayo people at Electric Picnic on Sunday as members of the county’s All-Ireland-winning football team appeared on stage with the Saw Doctors to perform the Green And Red of Mayo.
Stars like captain Jack Coyne, Kobe McDonald and Jordan Flynn were invited on stage by the legendary band to an adoring crowd of over 50,000 people. Green and red strobe lighting backlit the stage as the first bars of the Green and Red of Mayo rang out around Laois.
There had been much speculation that a moment like this would take place at the event after festival director indicated last week that there would be “a hell of a moment” for Mayo and the Saw Doctors.
The clip of the celebratory singsong has already garnered thousands of views on the Mayo News Facebook page, thanks to our colleagues over at Laois Live who supplied the footage.
Jordan Flynn, Kobe McDonald and Eoin McGreal spoke after the incredible appearance with Kobe describing it as “the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”
The Crossmolina man who made the move to St Kilda in the AFL in Australia just days after Mayo’s All-Ireland win added: “I think there was probably a couple more than 50,000 [people] too, that was nuts out there, but yeah, pretty cool.”
His brother Jordan Flynn said: “That was absolutely outrageous, probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced,” adding, “thank God McGreal [Eoin] decided to take a chance and shoot down the middle and get us all in,” referring to the team making their way effectively into the crowd.
Eoin replied: “One of us had to decide to go, who’s going down, so I said grab Fenton, and we’ll go down the strip.”
Sam Maguire didn’t make the appearance many expected but it certainly put a cap on an exceptional summer for Mayo just weeks on from that now famous day in Croke Park when the county ended a 75-year wait to win the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
