One of the names which has been floating in the ether and leading the odds in bookmakers is Armagh and Crossmaglen Rangers icon Oisín McConville.

McConville has displayed a level of pedigree since turning his hand to management, and guided Wicklow to the Tailteann Cup semi-finals this year before they lost out to Limerick in recent weeks.

Now, in conversation with Thomas Niblock on the BBC’s ‘The GAA Social’ Podcast, he has spoken on the links surrounding him and a host of counties in the wake of Wicklow’s elimination.

“Where am I? Obviously, my three-year term at Wicklow is up,” he stated. “I haven't spoken to Wicklow County Board, and I haven't spoken to one other county board in the country.

“I don't know why I'm being linked with different jobs, but I haven't spoken to anybody whatsoever, not even Wicklow, since last week. I'm sure that'll happen in the next couple of days.

“They can speculate away, I suppose.”
